Criminology is the scientific study of the nature, extent, causes and control criminal behavior in both he individual and in society. Criminology is an interdisciplinary fielding the behavioral sciences, drawing especially upon the research of sociologists (particularly in the sociology of deviance) and social anthropologists as well as on writing in law. The field of study known as criminology involves the studying of crime as a phenomenon on an individual as well as a social level. Crimes are conducted in various forms, for various reasons and have various consequences. Criminology involves studying all these aspects associated with crime in general. The subject also involves the study of the manner in which governmental authorities seek to regulate crime in the society. The main source from which the study of criminology derives its theory is sociology, psychology and law. Crime rate is on the increase and the nature of these crimes is also getting more complex.
