Information updating is a key goal of a new edition and maintains the format and guiding concepts from the first one. However, because chapters on dental anatomy are included in this new version, the book's structure has altered, as has the title. Undergraduate dentistry students are taught dental anatomy and histology as a unified course. The new additions to this work include chapters on oral histology, the formation of occlusion, the fundamental technique for tooth carving, the vasculature and innervations of orofacial areas, and the maxillary sinus to earlier chapters on oral histology. The author, who firmly believes that anatomical and histological textbooks must visually offer material, has included a sizable number of colorful images, original photomicrographs, drawings, tables, and diagrams in this book. The textbook is a modest attempt to fill the gap for dentistry students by providing them with the most recent knowledge on the growth, structure, and function of teeth and related structures. It is meant to introduce the topic to undergraduate students.
