Description

Forensic medicine is often considered to be a subset of toxicology where knowledge of the methodologies or clinical trials of the substances is used in the investigation of a crime to examine the causes of injury or death. Forensic science is applied science, often called “criminalistics” Forensic science applies biology, physics, geology, chemistry to civil and criminal laws and places physical evidences into a professional discipline. Forensic science applies the knowledge of technology of science for the definition and enforcement of law. Variation in exposure during the day and the total length of exposure during one’s lifetime may be as important for the outcome (response) as mean or average or even integrated dose level. High peak exposures may be more harmful than a more even exposure level. This is the case for some organic solvents. On the other hand, for some carcinogens, it has been experimentally shown that the fractionation of a single dose into several exposures with the same total dose may be more effective in producing tumours. Computer forensic investigations usually follow the standard digital forensic process or phases: acquisition, examination, analysis and reporting. Investigations are performed on static data (i.e. acquired images) rather than “live” systems. This is a change from early forensic practices where a lack of specialist tools led to investigators commonly working on live data. Toxicology addresses a variety of questions. For example, in agriculture, toxicology determines the possible health effects from exposure to pesticides or herbicides, or the effect of animal feed additives, such as growth factors, on people. Toxicology is also used in laboratory experiments on animals to establish doseresponse relationships. Toxicology also deals with the way chemicals and waste products affect the health of an individual. This book is consice and is a great tool for those undergraduates and also for the Post graduate students who would like to have a basic idea regarding Forensic.
